Medicines for Anemia & growth for Pregnant and lactating mothers
Anemia or Iron deficiency is very common in India because of inadequate iron & folate intake due to low vegetable and meat consumption (affordability issues).
Anemia begins in childhood, worsens during adolescence in girls and gets aggravated during pregnancy. Over 3/4th of pregnant women are anemic. Prevalence of anemia in children is high due to low iron content of breast milk and poor iron stores. There is thus an intergenerational self-perpetuating vicious cycle of anemia.

Anemia in young children is a serious concern because it can result in impaired cognitive performance and poor concentration, thereby having a deleterious impact on long-term learning outcomes.
